Seat Belt: Replacement

HINT:

The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
On the LH side, use the same procedures as on the RH side.

DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY (See page 72-11)
REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH
1. Remove the nut and inner belt.
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE QUARTER SCUFF PLATE INNER RH (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH
NOTE:
- Removal operation concerning the seat belt with the pretensioner must be started when 90 seconds or more have passed after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the battery negative terminal is disconnected.
- Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system section and the front seat outer belt assy section.
1. Remove the nut and the outer belt on the shoulder anchor side.
2. Disconnect the pretensioner connector, as shown in the illustration.
3. Disconnect the tension reducer connector.
4. Remove the 2 bolts on the retractor side and thoroughly remove the outer belt assy.

REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY
1. Remove the bolt and anchor adjuster assy.
INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY
1. Install the adjuster assy with the bolt.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH
NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
1. Check the degree of tilt when beginning to lock the ELR.
  1. Check that the belt does not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions but that the belt locks with over 45° of tilt, when gently moving the retractor.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.
2. Install the outer belt assy with the 2 bolts on the retractor side.
  Torque:
  
  8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 71 in. lbf) for upper bolt
  
  42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for lower bolt

3. Connect the pretensioner connector, as shown in the illustration.
4. Connect the tension reducer connector.
5. Install the outer belt assy with the nut on the shoulder anchor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
6. Install the outer belt assy with the bolt on the floor anchor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
7. Install the floor anchor cover.
8. Check the ELR lock.
  NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
  1. Check that the belt locks when pulling out the belt quickly when the belt is installed.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.
INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH
1. Install the inner belt assy with the nut.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH
REMOVE REAR FLOOR MAT SUPPORT PLATE REAR (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD RH
1. Remove the floor anchor cover.
2. Remove the bolt and the seat belt assy outer on the floor anchor side.
3. Remove the trim board (See FRONT DOOR ).
REMOVE ROOF SIDE GARNISH INNER RH (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE REAR SEAT BELT ASSY OUTER
1. Remove the bolt and the seat belt assy on the shoulder anchor side.
2. Remove the bolt on the retractor side, and thoroughly remove the seat belt assy.
REMOVE NO.1 SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSY LH
1. Remove the rear seatback board LH (See FRONT DOOR ).
2. Remove the rear seat shoulder belt cover (See FRONT DOOR ).
3. Remove the bolt and belt assy on the floor anchor side.
4. Remove the 2 nuts on the retractor side, and thoroughly remove the belt assy.
REMOVE REAR SEAT BELT ASSY INNER
1. Remove the bolt and the rear seat belt assy inner.
REMOVE REAR SEAT BELT ASSY INNER
1. Remove the bolt and the rear seat belt assy inner.
REMOVE REAR NO.1 SEAT BELT ASSY INNER LH
1. Remove the bolt and the rear No. 1 seat belt assy inner LH.
INSTALL NO.1 SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSY LH
1. Install the belt assy with the 2 nuts on the retractor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

2. Check the degree of tilt when the belt begins to lock the ELR.
  1. Check that the belt does not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions but that the belt locks with over 45° of tilt, when gently moving the retractor.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.
3. Install the belt assy with the bolt on the floor anchor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
4. Check the ELR lock.
  NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
  1. Check that the belt locks when pulling out the belt quickly when the belt is installed.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy outer.
INSTALL REAR NO.1 SEAT BELT ASSY INNER LH
1. Install the No. 1 seat belt assy with the bolt.
  Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
INSTALL REAR SEAT BELT ASSY INNER
1. Install the seat belt assy with the bolt.
  Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
INSTALL REAR SEAT BELT ASSY INNER

NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.

    If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy outer.
5. Check the fastening function of the child restraint system.
  NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
  1. Check that the belt cannot be pulled out any more but can be rewound after the belt is fully pulled out.
  2. Check that the belt can be pulled out and rewound after the belt is fully rewound.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy.
INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SEAT ASSY RH (See REAR NO.1 SEAT (RIGHT) )

REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SEAT ASSY (See REAR NO. 2 SEAT )
REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSY (See FRONT DOOR )
REMOVE REAR NO.2 SEAT BELT ASSY OUTER RH
1. Remove the floor anchor cover.
2. Remove the bolt and the seat belt assy on the floor anchor side.
3. Remove the bolt and the seat belt assy on the shoulder anchor side.
4. Remove the bolt on the retractor side, and thoroughly remove the seat belt assy.
REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SEAT BELT SUB-ASSY INNER
1. Remove the bolt and the rear seat belt sub-assy inner.
REMOVE REAR NO.2 SEAT BELT ASSY 3 POINT TYPE
1. Remove the bolt on the shoulder anchor side from the roof headlining trim rear.
2. Remove the 2 bolts and roof headlining trim rear.
3. Remove the bolt and door control receiver.

4. Remove the 3 bolts and shoulder belt guide center.
5. Remove the bolt on the retractor side and thoroughly remove the seat belt assy.
INSTALL REAR NO.2 SEAT BELT ASSY 3 POINT TYPE
1. Install the seat belt assy with the bolt on the retractor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

  If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy.

4. Check the fastening function of the child restraint system.
  NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
  1. Check that the belt cannot be pulled out any more but can be rewound after the belt is fully pulled out.
  2. Check that the belt can be pulled out and rewound after the belt is fully rewound.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy.
5. Install the shoulder belt guide center with the 3 bolts.
  Torque: 7.5 N (75 kgf.cm, 66 in lbf)
6. Install the door control receiver with the bolt.
7. Install the roof headlining trim rear with the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 7 N.m (70 kgf.cm, 62 in lbf)

8. Install the seat belt assy with the bolt on the shoulder anchor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SEAT BELT SUB-ASSY INNER
1. Install the seat belt sub-assy with the bolt.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
INSTALL REAR NO.2 SEAT BELT ASSY OUTER RH
NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
1. Check the degree of tilt when the belt begins to lock the ELR.
  1. Check that the belt does not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions but that the belt locks with over 45° of tilt, when gently moving the retractor.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy.

2. Install the belt assy with the bolt on the retractor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
3. Install the belt assy with the bolt on the shoulder anchor side.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
4. Install the belt assy on the floor anchor side with the bolt.
  Torque: 42 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
  
  NOTE: Do not make the anchor part run onto the protrusion part of the floor panel.
5. Check the ELR lock.
  NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
  1. Check that the belt locks when pulling out the belt quickly when the belt is installed.
  If operation is not as specified, replace the belt assy.
6. Check the fastening function of the child restraint system.
  NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
  1. Check that the belt cannot be pulled out any more but can be rewound after the belt is fully pulled out.
  2. Check that the belt can be pulled out and rewound after the belt is fully rewound.
