Fuel Delivery: SFI: Injector: Installation

1. Install new insulator and grommet to each injector.

2. Apply a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline to 2 new O-rings and install them to each injector.
3. Apply a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline on the place where a delivery pipe touches an O-ring of the injector.
4. While turning the injector clockwise and counterclockwise, push it to the delivery pipe. Install the 6 injectors.

5. Position the injector connector outward.
6. Place the 3 spacers in position on the intake manifold.
7. Apply a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline on the place where a intake manifold touches an O-ring of the injector.
8. Place the 6 injectors together with the delivery pipe and 3 bolts in position on the intake manifold.
9. Temporarily install the 3 bolts holding the delivery pipe to the intake manifold.
10. Check that the injectors rotate smoothly.

    HINT:

    If injectors do not rotate smoothly, the probable cause is incorrect installation of O-rings. Replace the O-rings.

11. Position the injector connector upward.
12. Connect the 6 injector connectors.

    HINT:

    The Nos. 1, 3, 5 injector connectors and dark gray, and the Nos. 2, 4, 6 injector connectors are brown.

13. Tighten the 3 bolts holding the delivery pipe to the intake manifold.
    1. Torque: 21 N.m (210 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) 
14. Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.
15. Connect the throttle position sensor connector.
16. Connect the VSV connector for EVAP.

Install the engine cover with the 4 nuts.
