Self-Diagnostic System: Pre-Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lexus ES 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE: The hand-held tester has a Snapshot function which records the monitored data. Please refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
  1. Using the hand-held tester:
    • Hook up the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    • Monitor the ECU data by following the prompts on the tester screen.
  2. DTC Clear:
    • The DTCs and freeze framed data will be erased by either action. Operate the OBD II scan tool (complying with SAE J1978) or hand-held tester erase the codes. See the OBD II scan tool's instruction book for operating instructions.
  3. NOTE: According to the DATA LIST displayed by the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester, you can read the value of the switch, sensor, actuator and so on without parts removal.
  4. Data List:
    • Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    • Turn the ignition switch ON.
    • According to the display on tester, read the DATA LIST. See DATA LIST: BODY ECU  table.

  5. NOTE: Performing the ACTIVE TEST using the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester allows the relay, VSV, actuator and so on to operate without parts removal.
  6. Active Test:
    • Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    • Turn the ignition switch ON.
    • According to the display on the tester, perform the ACTIVE TEST. See ACTIVE TEST  table.
