Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK AUTO UP/DOWN FUNCTION (DRIVER SIDE) 
    1. Check that the power window AUTO UP/DOWN function operates normally.

      HINT:

      • If the function works normally, go to step A.
      • If the function with the driving position memory switch does not work normally, go to step B.
      • If the function without the driving position memory switch does not work normally, go to step C.
    1. B: Go to step 2 
    2. C: Go to step   4 
    3. A: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
  2. w/ DRIVING POSITION MEMORY SWITCH: CHECK POWER SOURCE (FUSE) 
    1. Check that the remote control mirror functions operate normally.
    1. NG: Go to step   4 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the driver side power window operates.

      Standard (Power window regulator master switch (Driver door ECU)): 

      ACTIVE TEST (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH (DRIVER DOOR ECU))

      Item Test Detail Diagnostic Note
      P/W UP/DOWN Operates power window UP/DOWN -
    1. NG: Go to step   6 
    2. OK: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
  4. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-B, ECU-IG NO. 1, PWR) 
    1. Remove the ECU-B fuse from the F/L block.
    2. Remove the ECU-IG NO. 1 fuse and PWR M-fuse from the instrument panel J/B.
    3. Check the resistance.

      Standard: Below 1 Ω 

    1. NG: REPLACE FUSE 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the driver side power window operates.

      Standard (Power window regulator master switch (Driver door ECU)): 

      ACTIVE TEST (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH (DRIVER DOOR ECU))

      P/W UP/DOWN Operates power window UP/DOWN -
    1. NG: Go to step   8 
    2. OK: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOR POWER SOURCE OF POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the P22 master switch connector.

    3. Check the voltage between the wire harness side connector and the body ground.

      Standard: 

      POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH TERMINALS VOLTAGE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P22-9 (CPUB) - Body ground Constant 10 to 14 V
      P22-10 (BDR) - Body ground
      P22-20 (SIG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOR GROUND SOURCE OF POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the P22 master switch connector.

    3. Check the resistance between the wire harness side connector and body ground.

      Standard: 

      POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P22-2 (GND) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH ASSY - POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P22 master switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the P23 power window motor connector.

    4. Check the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      RESISTANCE BETWEEN POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH AND POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR CONNECTOR TERMINALS

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P22-1 (UP) - P23-2 (U) Below 1 Ω
      P22-1 1 (DN) - P23-1 (D)
      P22-1 (UP) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      P22-11 (DN) - Body ground
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  9. CHECK POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the master switch (the connector is connected).
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    4. Check the voltage between the terminals.

      Standard: 

      POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH TERMINALS VOLTAGE

      Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
      UP P22-1 (UP) - P-22-2 (GND) 10 to 14 V
      DOWN P22-11 (DN) - P22-2 (GND)
    1. NG: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY LH (DRIVER SIDE) 

    Reference:

    Check operation of the power window motor (driver side).

    1. Remove the motor (See OVERHAUL ).
    2. Apply battery voltage to terminals 1 and 2.
    3. Check that the motor rotates smoothly.

      NOTE: Do not apply battery voltage to any terminal except 1 and 2.

      Standard: 

      POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> 1
      Battery negative (-) --> 2
      Motor gear rotates counterclockwise
      Battery positive (+) --> 2
      Battery negative (-) --> 1
      Motor gear rotates clockwise
