Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Check which power window cannot be operated, and then proceed with troubleshooting procedures for the applicable power window as shown in TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES (POSITION AND STEP)  .

TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES (POSITION AND STEP)

  1. CHECK MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION (PASSENGER SIDE) 
    1. Check that the power window can be operated with the power window regulator switch.
    1. NG: OTHER PROBLEM (See  MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION DOES NOT OPERATE ON PASSENGER SIDE   ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  2. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (MASTER SWITCH) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the master switch.

      Standard (Power window regulator master switch (Driver door ECU)): 

      VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH (DRIVER DOOR ECU))

      P P/W AUTO SW Passenger door remote power window auto switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Passenger door remote power window auto switch operates

      OFF: Passenger door remote power window manual down switch does not operate
      -
    1. NG: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOR REGULATOR SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the P19 regulator switch connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform of the terminals.

      Standard: 

      The waveform is as shown in  Fig 2  .

      TESTER CONNECTION, TOOL SETTING & CONDITION

      Tester Connection P19-2 (MPX1) - P19-7 (GND)
      Tool Setting 10 V/DIV., 1 ms/DIV.
      Condition Operating passenger side switch of master switch
    1. NG: Go to step 4 
    2. OK: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY (PASSENGER SIDE) 
  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P19 regulator switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the B5 ECU connector.

    4. Check the resistance of the terminals of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      REGULATOR SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P19-2 (MPX1) - B5-19 (MPX4) Below 1 Ω
      P19-2 (MPX1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU 
  5. CHECK MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION (REAR LH) 
    1. Check that the door glass can be operated with the power window regulator switch.
    1. NG: OTHER PROBLEM (See  MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION DOES NOT OPERATE AT REAR LH   ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  6. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (MASTER SWITCH) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the master switch.

      Standard (Power window regulator master switch (Driver door ECU)): 

      VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH (DRIVER DOOR ECU))

    1. NG: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOR REGULATOR SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the P20 regulator switch connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform of the terminals.

      Standard: 

      The waveform is as shown in  Fig 5

      TESTER CONNECTION, TOOL SETTING AND CONDITION

      Tester Connection P20-2 (MPX1) - P20-7 (GND)
      Tool Setting 10 V/DIV., 1 ms/DIV.
      Condition Operating rear LH switch of master switch
    1. NG: Go to step 8 
    2. OK: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY REAR (REAR LH) 
  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P20 regulator switch connector.

    3. Check the resistance between the terminals of the wire harness side connector and the body ground.

      Standard: 

      REGULATOR SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P20-10 (SEL2) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  9. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P20 regulator switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the B5 ECU connector.

    4. Check the resistance of the terminals of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      RESISTANCE BETWEEN POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH AND MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU CONNECTOR TERMINALS

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P20-2 (MPX1) - B5-20 (MPX6) Below 1 Ω
      P20-2 (MPX1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU 
  10. CHECK MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION (REAR RH) 
    1. Check that the door glass can be operated with the power window regulator switch.
    1. NG: OTHER PROBLEM (See  MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION DOES NOT OPERATE AT REAR RH   ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  11. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (MASTER SWITCH) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the master switch.

      Standard (Power window regulator master switch (Driver door ECU)): 

      DATA LIST (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH (DRIVER DOOR ECU))

    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  12. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FOR REGULATOR SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the P21 power window switch connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform of the terminals.

      Standard: 

      The waveform is as shown in  Fig 9  .

      TESTER CONNECTION, TOOL SETTING & CONDITION

      Tester Connection P21-2 (MPX1) - P21-7 (GND)
      Tool Setting 10 V/DIV., 1 ms/DIV.
      Condition Operating rear RH switch of master switch
    1. NG: Go to step 13 
    2. OK: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY REAR (REAR RH) 
  13. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P21 regulator switch connector.

    3. Check the resistance between the terminal of the wire harness side connector and the body ground.

      Standard: 

      RESISTANCE BETWEEN POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS AND BODY GROUND

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P21-9 (SEL1) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  14. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY - MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P21 power window switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the B6 ECU connector.

    4. Check the resistance of the terminals of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      RESISTANCE BETWEEN POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH AND MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU CONNECTOR TERMINALS

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P21-2 (MPX1) - B6-5 (MPX5) Below 1 Ω
      P21-2 (MPX1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU 
  15. CHECK POWER WINDOW LOCK SWITCH 
    1. Turn the window lock switch OFF and check that the remote function operates.
    1. NG: Go to step 16 
    2. OK: END 
  16. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY (FOR WINDOW LOCK SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the master switch (the connector is connected).
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    4. Check the voltage between the terminal and the body ground.

      Standard: 

      VOLTAGE BETWEEN POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS AND BODY GROUND

      Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition
      ON (Normal) P22-6 (PWS) - Body ground 10 to 14 V
      OFF (Lock) P22-6 (PWS) - Body ground Below 1 V
    1. NG: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSY - EACH REGULATOR SWITCH ASSY)
