Front Seat: Overhaul

CAUTION:
  • Wear safety gloves, because the sharp surfaces of the seatback frame and seat adjuster may injure your hand. 
  • Work must be started more than 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. 

    (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.) 

HINT: 

  1. SEPARATE BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the 4 seat track covers.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts.
    3. Disconnect the connectors.
  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the nut and the front seat inner belt assembly. Then disconnect the clamp.
  4. REMOVE RECLINING POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB 
  5. REMOVE SLIDE & VERTICAL POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB 
  6. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the reclining adjuster release handle.
  7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER NO.1 LH 
    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Using a screwdriver, pry out the front seat cushion shield inner No.1.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  8. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER COVER LH 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and reclining adjuster cover. Then disconnect the connectors.

  9. REMOVE LUMBER FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and lumbar front power seat switch.

  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH 
    1. Remove the 3 screws, 5 claws and front seat cushion shield inner.

  11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK BOARD SUB-ASSY LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the reclining remote control lever knob.

      HINT: 

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the 2 screws.
    3. Remove the front seatback board as shown in Fig 5 .

  12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the connector and disengage the clamp.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and the front seat cushion assembly.
  13. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK ASSY 
    1. Remove the hog rings.
    2. Disconnect the connectors and disengage the clamps.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and the seatback assembly.

  14. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSY 
  15. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT 
  16. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK BOARD 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and front seatback board.

  17. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK SPRING ASSY 
    1. Remove the hog rings and the front seatback spring assembly from the front seatback cover with the pad.
  18. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER 
    1. Remove the hog rings and front seatback cover from the front seatback pad.
  19. REMOVE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the 3 screws and front power seat switch.
  20. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and reclining inside cover.
  21. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH 
  22. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SPRING ASSY 
    1. Remove the hog rings and the front seat cushion spring assembly from the front seat cushion cover with the pad.
  23. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Remove the hog rings and front seat cushion cover from the front seat cushion pad.
  24. REMOVE POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY 
    1. Remove the 6 screws and the 3 power seat motor assemblies.
  25. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Install the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion pad with new hog rings.
    2. Install the seat cushion cover with the pad to the seat cushion spring assembly with new hog rings.

    HINT: 

    • Do not damage the seat cushion cover nor make it dirty.
    • When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.
  26. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSY 
    1. Install the front seat cushion assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  27. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER 
    1. Install the seatback cover to the seat cushion pad with new hog rings.
    2. Install the seatback cover with the pad to the seatback spring assembly with new hog rings.

    HINT: 

    • Do not damage the seatback cover nor make it dirty.
    • When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.
  28. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK ASSY 
    1. Install the front seatback assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 43 N.m (439 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

    2. Install the hog rings and fully install the seatback cover.

      SST 99999-70039

  29. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Install the front seat inner belt with the nut.

      Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) 

    2. Connect the clamp.
  30. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the front seat.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the body. 
    2. Connect the connector.
    3. Install the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the 4 seat track covers.
