Air Conditioning Unit: Removal

  1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    HINT:

    At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Evacuate air from refrigeration system.

    Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.

    Specified Amount: 

    1. Single A/C: 650 +/- 50 g (22.93 +/- 1.76 oz.) 
    2. Dual A/C: 900 +/- 50 g (31.74 +/- 1.76 oz.) 

  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT FROM RADIATOR 

    HINT:

    It is not necessary to drain out all coolant.

  3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER 
  4. DISCONNECT LIQUID AND SUCTION TUBES 

    Remove the bolts and slide the plate, then disconnect the both tubes.

    Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

    NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.

    HINT:

    At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to tubes.

  5. DISCONNECT WATER HOSES FROM HEATER RADIATOR PIPES 
    1. Grip the claws of the hose clip and slide the hose clip along the hose.
    2. Disconnect the water hoses.

    HINT:

    At the time of installation, please refer to following items.

    • Push the water hose onto the heater radiator pipe as far as second ridge on the pipe and install the hose clip.
    • Install the hose clip in the position, as shown in the illustration.

  6. REMOVE GROMMETS 
  7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REINFORCEMENT (See  INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REINFORCEMENT  ). 
  8. REMOVE BLOWER UNIT (See  REMOVAL  ). 
  9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT (See  FRONT SEAT  ). 
  10. REMOVE 3 AIR DUCTS 
    1. Remove the 2 screws, bolt and center air duct.
    2. Remove the 4 hole covers, 4 screws and 2 air ducts.

    3. Slide the floor carpet backward.
    4. Disconnect the wire harness clamp.
    5. Remove the 4 nuts and air ducts.

  11. REMOVE A/C UNIT 
    1. Disconnect the connectors and wire harness clamps.
    2. Remove the 2 nuts, bolt and A/C unit.
