Air Conditioning Unit: Removal

- DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
HINT:
At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Evacuate air from refrigeration system.
Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
Specified Amount:
- Single A/C: 650 +/- 50 g (22.93 +/- 1.76 oz.)
- Dual A/C: 900 +/- 50 g (31.74 +/- 1.76 oz.)
- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT FROM RADIATOR
HINT:
It is not necessary to drain out all coolant.
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER
- DISCONNECT LIQUID AND SUCTION TUBES
Remove the bolts and slide the plate, then disconnect the both tubes.
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.HINT:
At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to tubes.
- DISCONNECT WATER HOSES FROM HEATER RADIATOR PIPES
- Grip the claws of the hose clip and slide the hose clip along the hose.
- Disconnect the water hoses.
HINT:
At the time of installation, please refer to following items.
- Push the water hose onto the heater radiator pipe as far as second ridge on the pipe and install the hose clip.
- Install the hose clip in the position, as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE GROMMETS
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REINFORCEMENT (See INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REINFORCEMENT ).
- REMOVE BLOWER UNIT (See REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT (See FRONT SEAT ).
- REMOVE 3 AIR DUCTS
- Remove the 2 screws, bolt and center air duct.
- Remove the 4 hole covers, 4 screws and 2 air ducts.
- Slide the floor carpet backward.
- Disconnect the wire harness clamp.
- Remove the 4 nuts and air ducts.
- REMOVE A/C UNIT
- Disconnect the connectors and wire harness clamps.
- Remove the 2 nuts, bolt and A/C unit.
