Deceleration Sensor Check

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When inspecting deceleration sensor, remove it with bracket. Do not remove sensor from bracket. Do not apply voltage of 6 volts or more to terminals VGS and GGND.
  1. Connect 3 1.5 volt batteries in series.
  2. Connect VGS terminal to batteries' positive terminal, and GGND terminal to batteries' negative terminal. Apply about 4.5 volts between VGS and GGND terminals. See Fig 1.
  3. Check output voltage of GL1 and GL2 terminals. See Fig 2.
  4. Do not tilt sensor too much or it may show wrong values. If dropped, sensor should be replaced with a new one. Sensor removed from vehicle should not be placed upside down.
