NOTE: If not using the hand-held tester, start the inspection from step  2.
  1. Perform the active test. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure. Enter into the ACTIVE TEST function of the hand-held tester. Check that the light turns ON or OFF as the hand-held tester directs. If all the lights flash except the shift indicator, perform the next test procedure of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (INDICATOR LIGHT & WARNING LIGHT)  table. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
  2. Check the bulb. Apply the tester as shown to test for continuity. See Fig 1. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the bulb.
  3. Check the combination meter circuit plate. See COMBINATION METER CIRCUIT PLATE . If the results are OK, replace the A/C and combination meter integrated ECU. See COMBINATION METER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the results are not good, replace the combination meter circuit plate. See COMBINATION METER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
