Park/Neutral Position Switch ASSY: Replacement

  1. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  2. REMOVE RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER LH (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  3. REMOVE RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER RH (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  4. SEPARATE OXYGEN SENSOR (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  5. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO.1 (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  7. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSY 
    1. Set the shift lever to N position.
    2. Remove the nut and disconnect the rod.

  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
    2. Remove the nut and control shaft lever with the rod.

  9. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Pry out the lock plate and remove the nut.
    2. Remove the bolt and pull out the park/neutral position switch.

  10. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Install the park/neutral position switch.
    2. Temporarily install the bolt.

    3. Place a new lock plate and tighten the nut.

      Torque: 6.9 N.m (70 kgf.cm, 61 in.lbf)

    4. Temporarily install the control shaft lever.
    5. Turn the lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches.
    6. Remove the control shaft lever.

    7. Align the groove with neutral basic line.
    8. Hold the switch in position and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 12.8 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)

    9. Using a screwdriver, stake the nut with the lock plate.

  11. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH 
    1. Install the nut and control shaft lever with the rod.

      Torque: 15.7 N.m (160 kgf.cm, 12 ft.lbf)

  12. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSY 
    1. Temporarily install the rod to the connecting rod swivel with the nut.

  13. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  14. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1 (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  15. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  16. INSTALL OXYGEN SENSOR (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  17. INSTALL RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER RH (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  18. INSTALL RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER LH (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  19. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  20. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  21. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY (See  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  22. CHECK EXHAUST GAS LEAK
