System Description

- CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial data communication system for real time application. It is a multiplex communication system to be equipped for a vehicle and has a high communication speed (500 kbps) and the function to detect malfunction.
- Pairing the CANH wire harness and CANL wire harness, the CAN performs the communication based on the voltage difference.
- The SIENNA uses the CAN communication system for the communication between the following ECU and sensors in the ABS with EBD & BA & TARC & VSC system.
- Skid control ECU
- Yaw rate sensor
- Steering angle sensor
- The skid control ECU stores and outputs DTCs in stead of the steering angle sensor and yaw rate sensor because they cannot store or output DTCs.
- In the CAN communication system, 2 terminus circuits* which are necessary to communicate with the mainline are placed.
*: A circuit which consists of a resistor and condenser is placed to convert the communication current of the CAN communication into bus voltage.
