Inspection Procedure
- INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH
- Disconnect the cruise control main switch connector.
- Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 3 of the cruise control main switch connector when the cruise control main switch is operated.
Standard:
CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH TERMINALS RESISTANCESwitch position Specified value Neutral 10 kΩ or higher +/RES 210 to 270 Ω -/SET 560 to 700 Ω CANCEL 1,380 to 1,700 Ω - Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 3 of the cruise control main switch connector when the main switch is held on and off.
Standard:
CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH TERMINALS RESISTANCESwitch position Tester connection Specified value OFF 1 - 3 10 kΩ or higher ON 1 - 3 Below 1 Ω - Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the cruise control main switch connector when the mode switch is operated.
Standard:
CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH TERMINALS RESISTANCESwitch position Tester connection Specified value MODE 1 - 2 Below 1 Ω

- CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH-SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY)
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the cruise control main switch connector and spiral cable connector.
- Check for an open circuit in harness and connector.
Standard:
CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH AND SPIRAL CABLE CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCETerminal No. Specified value A-1 - B-2 Below 1 Ω A-3 - B-3 Below 1 Ω A-4 - B-1 Below 1 Ω - Connect the spiral cable connector.
- Check for a short circuit in harness and connector.
Standard:
CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCETerminal No. Specified value B-2 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher B-3 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY
- Disconnect the spiral cable sub-assy connector.
- Measure the resistance between terminals A and C13 of spiral cable sub-assy.
Standard:
SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY TERMINALS RESISTANCETerminal No. Specified value A-1 - C13-7 Below 1 Ω A-3 - C13-1 Below 1 Ω A-4 - C13-2 Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - ECM)
- Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the spiral cable sub-assy and ECM (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - BODY GROUND)
- Check for an open circuit in harness and connector between the spiral cable sub-assy and body ground (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT ECM
- Remove the ECM with connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage between terminal CCS (E6-24) of ECM and body ground, according to the cruise control main switch position as shown in the chart below.
Standard:
ECM CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGESwitch position Specified value Neutral 10 to 16 V CANCEL 6.6 to 10.1 V -/SET 4.5 to 7.1 V +/RES 2.3 to 4.0 V Main switch ON Below 1 V - Measure the voltage between terminal CCHG (E7-28) of ECM and body ground, according to the cruise control main switch position as shown in the chart below.
Standard:
ECM CONNECTOR TERMINALS VOLTAGESwitch position Specified value MODE Below 1 V Neutral 10 to 14 V
- NG: REPLACE ECM (See ECM (3MZ-FE) )
- OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
