    2. Measure the resistance between terminal 4 (DIST) and 6 (ECC) of steering pad switch assy connector when distance control switch is operated.

      Standard:

STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Switch position Specified value
Distance control switch is ON Below 1 Ω
Distance control switch is OFF 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT:

When a malfunction is detected in the distance control switch, replace the steering pad switch assy.

    1. NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY (See  STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSY  )
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable sub-assy connector.
    2. Fig 2: Identifying Spiral Cable Sub-Assy Connector

    3. Measure the resistance between terminal A and C13 of spiral cable sub-assy.

      Standard:

      SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Terminal No. Specified value
      A-4 - C13-11 Below 1 Ω
      A-6 - C13-2 Below 1 Ω
    1. NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY)
    1. Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the distance control ECU and the spiral cable sub-assy (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY - BODY GROUND)
    1. Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between the spiral cable sub-assy and body ground (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
  5. INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSY (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU)
    1. Remove the cruise control ECU (distance control ECU) with the connector.
    2. Fig 3: Identifying Cruise Control ECU (Distance Control ECU) Connector

    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Measure the voltage between terminal MODE (D2-16) of the cruise control ECU (distance control ECU) and body ground, when distance control switch is operated.

      Standard:

CRUISE CONTROL ECU (DISTANCE CONTROL ECU) CONNECTOR TERMINALS RESISTANCE

      Switch position Specified value
Distance control switch is ON Below 1 V
Distance control switch is OFF 10 to 14 V
    1. NG: REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSY (See  CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSY  )
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
