Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR ANY FOREIGN OBJECT 
    1. Check that no foreign object is in the steering pad switch cover.

      OK: No foreign object. 

    1. NG: REMOVE FOREIGN OBJECT 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CENTER - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the M6 panel connector.
    2. Disconnect the C10 cable connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CENTER - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY AND BODY GROUND

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      M6-2 (TLSW) - C10-1 (TLSW) Below 1 ohms
      M6-3 (TLSW-) - C10-4 (ECC) Below 1 ohms
      M6-3 (TLSW-) - Body ground Below 1 ohms

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR (TEL 2 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage of the switch.

      Standard: 

      STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR (TEL 2 VOLTAGE)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (TLSW) - 6 (ECC) Steering pad TEL switch not pushed Below 5 V
      4 (TLSW) - 6 (ECC) Steering pad TEL switch pushed Below 1 V

    1. NG: REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. CHECK CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the switch connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard: 

      CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSY

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A-1 (TLSW) - B-6 (TLSW) Below 1 ohms
      A-4 (ECC) - B-4 (ECC2) Below 1 ohms

    1. NG: REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the cable connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the cable.

      Standard: 

      SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C10-4 (ECC) - A-4 (ECC) Below 1 ohms
      C10-1 (TLSW) - A-1 (TLSW) Below 1 ohms

    1. NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   )
