How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

• Use these procedures to troubleshoot the dynamic radar cruise control system.
• *: Use the intelligent tester.

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 

   NEXT 

2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

   Standard: 11 to 14 V 

   If the voltage is below 11 V, replace or recharge the battery before proceeding.

3. CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (BEAN)* 
   1. Use the intelligent tester to check if the Multiplex Communication System (MPX) is functioning normally.

4. CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)* 
   1. Use the intelligent tester to check for normal function of CAN communication system.
      1. Perform bus check (communication malfunction DTC).
      2. Perform bus check (communication bus check).

5. CHECK FOR DTC* 

   Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR  .

   1. Check for DTC and note any codes that are output.
   2. Delete the DTC.
   3. Recheck for DTC. Try to prompt the DTC by simulating the original activity that the DTC suggests.

8. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE 
   NOTE:

   • When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, initialization must be performed (see CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH  ).
   • When the millimeter wave radar sensor is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the radar sensor beam axis must be performed (see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ).
