System Description

REAR POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- Power seats are standard equipment for the front seats and optional for the rear seats.
- For rear power seats, the position of the right and left seats can be adjusted independently.
- A memory system for the rear seats is optional.
- A seat vibration system for the rear outer seats has been made available as an option for the comfort of the occupants.

FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT

Components	Function
Slide Seat Motors	Receives signal from rear seat ECU, motor operates, and rear seat slides forward and rearward.
Headrest Motors	Receives signal from rear seat ECU, motor operates, and headrest raises and lowers.
Seat Position Sensor	At all times, detects rear seat slide and headrest position and sends data to rear seat ECU.
Rear Seat Control Switch	Operation of this switch sends seat adjustment signals or vibrator signals to rear seat ECU. Then, seat slide adjustment, headrest adjustment or vibration activation occurs.
Rear Seat Return Switch	Operation of this switch sends signals to passenger side J/B ECU and rear seat moves to rearmost position.
Door Courtesy Switch Rear	Opening rear door sends signal to rear door ECU.
Memory Switch	Operation of this switch sends signals to rear seat ECU. Then, seat slide and headrest position memory is set or recalled, and door open linked return function control is activated.
Vibrator	Receives signal from rear seat ECU and vibrator activates.

Each of rear power seat's memory adjustment and positions are shown in the chart below.

SYSTEM OPERATION

By operating the rear power seat reset switch, the position of the rear seat that has been adjusted can be returned to the factory setting.
To improve the ease of entry/exit into the vehicle, the door open linked return function is available. For this function, when a rear door is opened, the rear seat adjacent to the opened door is moved to the rearmost position.
At this time, the rear seat ECU checks the shift lever position, brake operation, ignition switch position and vehicle speed. It then makes a judgement of the vehicle's status before activating motors to move rear seat to rearmost position.
The door open linked return function can be enabled or disabled by operating the C switch in the rear door trim.
The right and left rear ECUs memorize seat positions for their own respective rear seat sides.
To activate the rear vibrator function, first turn the ignition switch ON. Then press the START side of the vibrator ON switch. A vibration of 30 Hz should begin. Keep the START side of the vibrator switch held down and the vibration should increase to 60 Hz. Thereafter, the vibration drops down to 1 Hz and increases again (the sweep time is approximately 10 seconds).
