Problem Symptoms Table

If there are no DTCs output but the problem still occurs, check the circuits for each problem symptom in the order given in the table below and proceed to the relevant troubleshooting page.

NOTE: When replacing the skid control ECU, sensor, etc., turn the ignition switch off.

HINT:

Inspect the fuse and relay before investigating the suspected areas as shown in the table below. Inspect each malfunctioning circuit in numerical order for the corresponding symptom.

ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM

ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM SYMPTOM

Symptom Suspected area
ABS, BA and/or EBD does not operate 1. Use a chassis dynamometer, etc. to check the ECB operation
2. Check the DTC again and make sure that the normal system code is output. See DTC CHECK / CLEAR
3. IG POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
4. FRONT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
5. REAR SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
6. Check the brake actuator assembly with the intelligent tester (Check brake actuator assembly operation using the active test function) If abnormal, check the hydraulic circuit for leakage. See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST
7. If the symptoms still occur even after the above circuits in suspected areas have been inspected and proved to be normal, replace the skid control ECU. See SKID CONTROL ECU
ABS, BA and/or EBD does not operate efficiently 1. Check that traction control has not operated by carrying out diagnosis (Traction control does not operate while the traction OFF switch is ON and the brake control warning light and SLIP indicator light are ON)
2. Check the DTC again and make sure that the normal system code is output. See DTC CHECK / CLEAR
3. FRONT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
4. REAR SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT
5. Check the brake actuator assembly with the intelligent tester (Check brake actuator assembly operation using the active test function) If abnormal, check the hydraulic circuit for leakage. See DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST
6. If the symptoms still occur even after the above circuits in suspected areas are inspected and proved to be normal, replace the skid control ECU. See SKID CONTROL ECU
VSC and/or TRAC does not operate 1. Check the DTC again and make sure that the normal system code is output. See DTC CHECK / CLEAR
2. IG POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
3. Check the hydraulic circuit for leakage
