Inspection Procedure
- CHECK THAT MIL IS ILLUMINATED
- Perform troubleshooting in accordance with the table below.RESULT CHART

- Perform troubleshooting in accordance with the table below.
- CHECK WHETHER MIL TURNS OFF
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch ON (IG) and turn the tester ON.
- Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODE.
- Check if any DTCs have been stored. Note down any DTCs.
- Clear DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
- Check if the MIL goes off.
OK:
MIL should go off.
OK: REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTC
NG: GO TO Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT IN WIRE HARNESS)
- Disconnect the A53 ECM connector.
- Turn the power switch ON (IG).
- Check that the MIL is not illuminated.
OK:
MIL is not illuminated.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
OK: REPLACE ECM
NG: GO TO Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - ECM)
- Disconnect the K31 combination meter connector.
- Disconnect the A53 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance (Check for short)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition W (A53-24) or EFI (K31-8) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the combination meter connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- CHECK THAT MIL IS ILLUMINATED
- Check if the MIL is illuminated when the power switch is turned ON (IG).
OK:
MIL should be illuminated.
OK: SYSTEM OK
NG: GO TO Next Step
- Check if the MIL is illuminated when the power switch is turned ON (IG).
- CHECK THAT ENGINE STARTS
- Turn the power switch ON (IG).
- Start the engine.RESULT CHART
Result Proceed to Engine starts A Engine does not start* B HINT:
*: The intelligent tester cannot communicate with the ECM.

- INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (MIL CIRCUIT)
- Check the MIL circuit (see SYSTEM DIAGRAM ).
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK: CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - ECM)
