Fuel Pump: Inspection
- INSPECT FUEL PUMP
- Inspect the fuel pump resistance.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
Standard resistance::
0.2 to 3.0 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
- Inspect fuel pump operation.
- Connect the lead wire to the fuel pump.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump operates.Fig 2: Connecting Positive (+) Lead From Battery To Terminal 1 Of Connector, And Negative (-) Lead To Terminal 2

NOTE:- These tests must be done quickly (within 10 seconds) to prevent the coil from burning out.
- Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
- Always switch on the battery side.
If the fuel pump does not operate, replace the fuel pump and/or lead wire.
- Disconnect the lead wire from the fuel pump.
- Inspect the fuel pump resistance.
