On-Vehicle Inspection
- INSPECT THROTTLE BODY
- Check for an operating sound.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- When turning the accelerator pedal position sensor lever, listen to a running sound of the motor. Also, check that there is no friction sound.
If operation is not as specified, check the throttle control motor (See INSPECTION ), wiring and ECM.
- Inspect the throttle position sensor.
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- When turning the accelerator pedal position sensor lever to the full-open position, check the throttle valve opening percentage (THROTTLE POS) of the CURRENT DATA.
Standard throttle valve opening percentage:
60% or more
If the result is not as specified, check the accelerator pedal position sensor (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ), wiring and ECM.
If the intelligent tester is not available, measure the voltage between the terminals (VTA1 - E2, VTA2 - E2) of the ECM connector (See TERMINALS OF ECM ).
- Inspect the air assist system.
- Start the engine and check that the MIL does not light up.
- Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature.
- Switch the A/C compressor from ON to OFF, and check the idle speed.
Idle speed (Transmission in neutral):
700 +- 50 rpm
NOTE: Perform this inspection while no electrical load is applied.
- Perform the driving test.
- Check for an operating sound.
