Windshield Glass: Removal

  1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See step 2 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (See step 3 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH (See step 4 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH (See step 5 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOLDING LH (See  REMOVAL  )

  30. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof) 

    It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining assembly. Slightly lower the front section of the roof headlining assembly so that the windshield glass can be removed (See step 127 in REMOVAL ).

  31. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/ Sliding Roof) 

    It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining assembly. Slightly lower the front section of the roof headlining assembly so that the windshield glass can be removed (See step 128 in REMOVAL ).

  32. REMOVE WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOLDING 
    1. Using a knife, cut off the molding, as shown in Fig 1 .
      NOTE: Do not damage the vehicle body with the knife.
    2. Remove the remaining molding from the vehicle body.

      HINT:

      When removing, make a partial cut, then pull and remove it by hand.

  33. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS 
    1. Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass from the interior.

    2. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
      NOTE:
      • When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and the interior and exterior ornaments.
      • To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.

      HINT:

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface to prevent the surface from being scratched.

    3. Place matchmarks over the glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in Fig 3 .

      HINT:

      Matchmarks do not need to be placed if the glass is not going to be reused.

    4. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the glass.
    5. Using a suction cup, remove the glass.
      NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the glass.

  34. REMOVE NO. 2 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER 
    1. Using a scraper, remove the No. 2 windshield glass stoppers.
  35. REMOVE NO. 1 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER 
    1. Remove the No. 1 windshield glass stoppers.
  36. CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS 
    1. Using a scraper, remove the damaged stoppers, dam and adhesive sticking to the glass.
    2. Clean the outer circumference of the glass with non-residue type solvent.
    NOTE:
    • Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.
    • Be careful not to damage the glass.
    • Even if using new glass, clean the glass with non-residue type solvent.
