Engine Control System (2GR-FSE) - System And Circuit Testing, On-Vehicle Inspection, Removal, Inspection And Installation: ECM: Installation

  1. INSTALL ECM 
    1. Install the ECM to the ECM box.
      NOTE:
      • Install the ECM on the ECM box with the name plate facing the inside of the vehicle.
      • Make sure that there is no foreign matter on the gasket surface of the ECM box.
      • Insert the stud bolt on the vehicle rear side to the ECM first.
      • Make sure that stud bolts are securely installed into the front and rear bolt holes.

    2. Install the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE: Be sure to first tighten the nut on the vehicle rear.
    3. Connect the ECM connectors.
      1. Connect the 6 ECM connectors.
        NOTE: Be sure to securely connect the connector.
      2. Connect the connector holder to the ECM box.

  2. INSTALL ECM COVER 
    1. Install the ECM cover with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE: Make sure that the wire harness does not get caught between the parts.

  3. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  4. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  5. INITIALIZE ECM 
    NOTE: After replacing the ECM on vehicles with a dynamic radar cruise control system, it is necessary to initialize the ECM so that the ECM can recognize the dynamic radar cruise control system.
    1. Be sure to perform the following procedures after replacing the ECM.
      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      2. Turn the cruise main switch on.
      3. With the brake pedal depressed, push the cruise control main switch to RES/ACC 3 times within 3 seconds. Check that the buzzer sounds at this time.
        NOTE: Do not turn the headlight dimmer switch on at this time because the optical axis automatic adjustment mode has already started, which may lead to an incorrect optical axis setting. If the headlight dimmer switch is turned on by mistake, readjust the optical axis (See ADJUSTMENT ).
  6. PERFORM REGISTRATION 
    NOTE: The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be input into the replacement ECM (See REGISTRATION ).
  7. SET ECM FOR W/ OPTIONAL DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM 
    NOTE: When replacing the ECM of vehicles with the optional dynamic radar cruise control system, it is necessary to set the ECM for this option.
    1. Be sure perform the following procedures after replacing the ECM.
      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      2. Turn the cruise control main switch on.
      3. With the brake pedal depressed, set the cruise control main switch to RES/ACC 3 times within 3 seconds. Check that the buzzer sounds at this time.
      4. Turn the engine switch off.
      5. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
      6. Turn the engine switch and intelligent tester main switch on.
      7. Select the item L/C Option Flag in the Date List.
      8. Check that YES is displayed.
