Outer Rear View Mirror: Inspection

  1. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.

      OK 

      OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1 (RMVR)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 10 (RM+R)
      Turns upward (A)
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 10 (RM+R)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1 (RMVR)
      Turns downward (B)
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 9 (RMHR)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 10 (RM+R)
      Turns right (C)
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 10 (RM+R)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 9 (RMHR)
      Turns left (D)

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

    2. For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.

      NOTE:
      • Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.
      • The mirror position cannot be changed manually when the battery is connected. To change the mirror position manually, the battery must be disconnected first.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

    3. Check the mirror heater.
      1. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 12 of the connector.

        Standard resistance: 3.6 to 4.0 Ω at 25°C (75°F) 

      2. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror heater.

        OK 

        TERMINALS 4 AND 12

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4 (HTR+)
        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (HTR-)
        Mirror becomes warm

        HINT:

        It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

  2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.

      OK

      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 10 (RM+R))

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

    2. For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.

      NOTE:
      • Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.

    3. Check the mirror heater.
      1. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 12 of the connector.

        Standard resistance: 3.6 to 4.8 Ω at 25°C (75°F) 

      2. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror heater.

        OK
