Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Use the intelligent tester or Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Result: 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTC is not output A
      CAN DTC is output B

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CHECK DEFOGGER SYSTEM 
    1. Check that the defogger operates normally.

      OK: Defogger operates normally. 

    NG: GO TO WINDOW DEFOGGER SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (MIRROR HEATER FUNCTION) 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the intelligent tester or Techstream to generate a control command, and then check the mirror heater function.
      1. Intelligent tester

        Result (Passenger Side):

        Result Proceed to
        Outer rear view mirror RH does not operate normally C
        Outer rear view mirror RH operates normally D

    B: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL )

    C: Go to step   5 

    D: REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER  (See REMOVAL )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the mirror LH (see REMOVAL  ).
    2. Check the operation of the mirror heater.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH RESISTANCE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        4 (HTR+) -12 (HTR-) 25°C (75°F) 3.0 to 4.0 Ω
      2. Apply battery voltage and check the mirror heater operation.

        OK 

        OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH VOLTAGE

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4 (HTR+)
        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (HTR-)
        Mirror becomes warm

        HINT:

        It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

    NG: REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    OK: REPLACE FRONT DOOR ECU LH  (See REMOVAL )

  5. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the mirror RH (see REMOVAL  ).
    2. Check the operation of the mirror heater.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance 

        OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH RESISTANCE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        4(HTR+)-12(HTR-) 25°C (75°F) 3.0 to 4.0 Ω
      2. Apply battery voltage and check the mirror heater operation.

        OK 

        OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH VOLTAGE

        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4 (HTR+)
        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (HTR-)
        Mirror becomes warm

        HINT:

        It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

    NG: REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    OK: REPLACE FRONT DOOR ECU RH  (See REMOVAL )

  2. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (MIRROR RETRACT SWITCH) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the mirror retract switch.

        OK: On tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart. 

    NG: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (MIRROR RETRACT FUNCTION) 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the intelligent tester or Techstream to generate a control command, and then check the mirror retract function.

    B: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   )

    D: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the mirror LH (see REMOVAL  ).
    2. For each mirror position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.
      NOTE:
      • Disconnect and reconnect the battery once between each mirror position check.
      • The mirror position cannot be changed manually when the battery is connected. To change the mirror position manually, the battery must be disconnected first.

    OK: REPLACE FRONT DOOR ECU LH  (See REMOVAL )

  5. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the mirror RH (see REMOVAL  ).
    2. For each mirror position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.
      NOTE:
