How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage: 11 to 14 V 

    If the voltage is below 11V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

  3. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Use the intelligent tester or Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Result 

      COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTC is not output A
      CAN DTC is output B

    B: Go to CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Use the intelligent tester or Techstream to check if the LIN communication system is functioning normally.

      Result 

      COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

      Result Proceed to
      LIN DTC is not output A
      LIN DTC is output B

    B: Go to LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs. Based on the DTCs output above, try to cause the output of the same steering lock system DTC or engine immobilizer system DTC by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTC.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC output does not reoccur A
      Steering lock system DTC output reoccurs B
      Engine immobiliser system DTC output reoccurs C

    B: Go to STEERING LOCK SYSTEM  (See STEERING LOCK SYSTEM )

    C: Go to ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM  (See ENGINE )

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  6. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

    Fault is not listed in problem symptoms table A
    Fault is listed in problem symptoms table B

    B: Go to step   8

  7. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING* 
    1. Operation check (see OPERATION CHECK  )
    2. Data List / Active Test (see DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  )
    3. Terminals of ECU (see TERMINALS OF ECU  )
  8. REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT 
  9. CONFIRMATION TEST
