On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine and turn the tester ON.
    3. Start and warm up the engine.
    4. Idle the engine.
    5. Enter the following menus:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / VVT EX B1 or VVT EX B2.
      2. Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2)
    6. Check the engine speed while operating the Oil Control Valve (OCV) using the tester.

      Specified condition 

      CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
      0% Normal engine speed
      30% Engine idles roughly

      If the result is not as specified, check the oil control valve, wirings and camshaft timing exhaust gear.

      HINT:

      • VVT EX B1: Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 1.
      • VVT EX B2: Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 2.
