Changing Engine Oil

WARNING:
- Be careful not to burn yourself, as the engine oil is hot.
- Prolonged and repeated contact with used engine oil may cause skin cancer; try to avoid direct skin contact with used oil. If skin contact is made, wash thoroughly with soap or hand cleaner as soon as possible.
- Position the vehicle so it is level on the hoist.
- Warm up the engine, and check for oil leaks from the engine.
- Stop the engine and wait at least 10 minutes.
- Remove the oil drain plug and oil filler cap.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Install the oil drain plug.CAUTION:
- Clean the drain plug and use a new washer for installation.
- Oil pan drain plug: 29 - 39 N.m (3.0 - 4.0 kg-m, 22 - 29 ft-lb)
- Refill the engine with new engine oil. Refer to
"RECOMMENDED FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS ".CAUTION:
- The refill oil capacity depends on the oil temperature and drain time. Use these specifications for reference only.
- Always use the dipstick to determine when the proper amount of oil is in the engine. Oil Capacity (Approximate).
OIL SPECIFICATIONDrain and refill With oil filter change 4.0 (4 1/4, 3 1/2) Without oil filter change 3.7(3 7/8, 3 1/4) Dry engine (engine overhaul) 5.0 (5 1/4, 4 3/8) - Start the engine and run it at idle to warm up, then check the oil drain plug and oil filter for oil leaks.
- Stop the engine and wait at least 10 minutes.
- Check the engine oil level using the dipstick as shown. Refer to Fig 2
