Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Switch 4WD shift switch to 2WD and set transfer assembly to 2WD.
  2. Remove A/T undercover using power tools.
  3. Remove center exhaust tubes and muffler. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM - TITAN article in ENGINES .
  4. Remove front and rear propeller shafts. Refer to FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT and REAR PROPELLER SHAFT in DRIVESHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS - TITAN article in DRIVELINE/AXLES. .
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage spline, sleeve yoke and rear oil seal when removing the rear propeller shaft.
    NOTE: Insert a plug into rear oil seal after removing rear propeller shaft.
  5. Remove A/T mount bolts. Refer to COMPONENTS .
  6. Position two suitable jacks under A/T and transfer assembly.
  7. Remove A/T crossmember. Refer to COMPONENTS .
    WARNING: Support A/T and transfer assembly using two suitable jacks while removing A/T crossmember.
  8. Remove breather hoses from the transfer rear case and transfer control device.
  9. Disconnect the ATP switch, 4LO switch, wait detection switch, transfer control device electrical connectors.
  10. Remove transfer to A/T and A/T to transfer bolts.
    WARNING: Support transfer assembly with suitable jack while removing it.
  11. Remove transfer assembly.
CAUTION: Be careful not to damage rear oil seal (A/T).
