Removal And Installation: Removal

- Switch 4WD shift switch to 2WD and set transfer assembly to 2WD.
- Remove A/T undercover using power tools.
- Remove center exhaust tubes and muffler. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM - TITAN article in ENGINES .
- Remove front and rear propeller shafts. Refer to FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT
and REAR PROPELLER SHAFT
in DRIVESHAFTS & UNIVERSAL JOINTS - TITAN article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
.CAUTION: Be careful not to damage spline, sleeve yoke and rear oil seal when removing the rear propeller shaft.NOTE: Insert a plug into rear oil seal after removing rear propeller shaft.
- Remove A/T mount bolts. Refer to COMPONENTS .
- Position two suitable jacks under A/T and transfer assembly.
- Remove A/T crossmember. Refer to COMPONENTS .WARNING: Support A/T and transfer assembly using two suitable jacks while removing A/T crossmember.
- Remove breather hoses from the transfer rear case and transfer control device.
- Disconnect the ATP switch, 4LO switch, wait detection switch, transfer control device electrical connectors.
- Remove transfer to A/T and A/T to transfer bolts.WARNING: Support transfer assembly with suitable jack while removing it.
- Remove transfer assembly.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage rear oil seal (A/T).
