Inspection Procedure

  1. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (see CALIBRATION  ).
  2. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times A
      DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration once or twice B
      DTC is not output C

      HINT:

      Replace the power steering ECU if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times.

    B: Go to step   1 

    C: END 

    A: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU 
    1. Replace the power steering ECU (see REMOVAL  ).
  4. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT 
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (see CALIBRATION  ).
  5. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result

      DTC is not output A
      DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times (for w/ VGRS) B
      DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times (for w/o VGRS) C
      DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration once or twice D

      HINT:

      Replace the power steering gear assembly if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times.

      NOTE: If replacing the power steering gear assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point (see CALIBRATION  ).

    B: REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (w/ VGRS) (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    C: REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (w/o VGRS) (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    D: Go to step   4 

    A: END
