Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
- INSPECT FUSE (ETCS)
- Remove the ETCS fuse from the engine room junction block.
- Measure the resistance of the ETCS fuse.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ω
NG: CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESSES AND COMPONENTS CONNECTED TO FUSE
OK: Go to next step
- READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (+BM VOLTAGE)
- Connect the intelligent tester to the CAN VIM. Then connect the CAN VIM to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DATA LIST / PRIMARY / +BM.
Standard voltage:
9 to 14 V
OK: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEM
NG: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - ETCS FUSE, ETCS FUSE - BATTERY)
- Check harness and connector (see ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: REPLACE ECM
