Park / Neutral Position Switch: Installation

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve shaft.
    2. Temporarily install the bolt.
    3. Install a new lock washer and the nut.

      Torque: 7.0 N*m (71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf)

    4. Turn the control shaft fully rearward, and return the control shaft lever 2 notches to the N position.

    5. Align the neutral basic line with the switch groove, and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

    6. Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.

  2. CONNECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR 
  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION 
  6. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION 
  7. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect park/neutral position switch assembly (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ).
