Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE MASS AIR FLOW METER




a. Disconnect the air flow meter connector.
b. Remove the 2 screws and mass air flow meter.
c. Remove O-ring from the mass air flow meter.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL INTAKE AIR FLOW METER




a. Install a new O-ring to the mass air flow meter.
b. Install the mass air flow meter with the 2 screws.
c. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.

2. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

3. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
