Problem Symptoms Table

Use the table below to help determine the cause of the problem symptom. The potential causes of the symptoms are listed in order of probability in the "Suspected Area" column of the table. Check each symptom by checking the suspected areas in the order they are listed. Replace parts as necessary.

Audio function

No sound is heard from speakers (audio is mute) 1. Mute Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier MUTE SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER AND STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 
2. AMP Sound Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier AMP SOUND SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY AND STEREO COMPONENT TUNER 
3. Radio Receiver Power Source Circuit RADIO RECEIVER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
4. Stereo Component Amplifier Power Source Circuit STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
5. Replace stereo component amplifier -
6. Replace radio receiver -
Radio broadcast cannot be received (poor reception) 1. Proceed to "Radio Broadcast cannot be Received (Bad Reception)" RADIO BROADCAST CANNOT BE RECEIVED (BAD RECEPTION) 
2. Mute Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier MUTE SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER AND STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 
3. AMP Sound Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier AMP SOUND SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY AND STEREO COMPONENT TUNER 
4. Stereo Component Amplifier Power Source Circuit STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
5. Replace w/ holder antenna -
6. Replace radio receiver -
No sound is heard only when tape or CD is played 1. Proceed to "Only Sound of Radio, Cassette Tape or CD cannot be Heard from Speaker" ONLY SOUND OF RADIO, CASSETTE TAPE OR CD CANNOT BE HEARD FROM SPEAKER 
2. AMP Sound Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier AMP SOUND SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY AND STEREO COMPONENT TUNER 
3. Mute Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier MUTE SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER AND STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 
4. Replace stereo component amplifier -
5. Replace radio receiver -
Sound quality is bad only when CD is played 1. Proceed to "Sound Quality is Bad Only when CD is Played (Volume is too Low)" SOUND QUALITY IS BAD ONLY WHEN CD IS PLAYED (VOLUME IS TOO LOW) 
2. Replace radio receiver -
CD cannot be inserted / played or CD is ejected right after insertion 1. Proceed to "CD cannot be Inserted / Played or CD is Ejected Right After Insertion" CD CANNOT BE INSERTED / PLAYED OR CD IS EJECTED RIGHT AFTER INSERTION 
2. Radio Receiver Power Source Circuit RADIO RECEIVER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
3. Replace radio receiver -
CD cannot be ejected 1. Proceed to "CD cannot be Ejected" CD CANNOT BE EJECTED 
2. Radio Receiver Power Source Circuit RADIO RECEIVER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
3. Replace radio receiver -
Noise occurs 1. Proceed to "Noise Occurs" NOISE OCCURS 
2. Mute Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier MUTE SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER AND STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 
3. Stereo Component Amplifier Power Source Circuit STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
4. Radio Receiver Power Source Circuit RADIO RECEIVER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
5. Replace stereo component amplifier -
6. Replace radio receiver -
CD sound skips 1. Proceed to "CD Sound Skips" CD SOUND SKIPS 
2. Replace radio receiver -
Poor sound quality in all modes (low volume) 1. Proceed to "Poor Sound Quality in All Modes (Low Volume)" POOR SOUND QUALITY IN AH MODES (LOW VOLUME) 
2. Speaker circuit SPEAKER CIRCUIT 
3 Mute Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier MUTE SIGNAL CIRCUIT BETWEEN RADIO RECEIVER AND STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 
4. Stereo Component Amplifier Power Source Circuit STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
5. Radio Receiver Power Source Circuit RADIO RECEIVER POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 
6. Replace stereo component amplifier -

Cassette tape cannot be inserted or played Proceed to "Cassette Tape cannot be Inserted or Played" CASSETTE TAPE CANNOT BE INSERTED OR PLAYED 
Cassette tape cannot be ejected Proceed to "Cassette Tape cannot be Ejected" CASSETTE TAPE CANNOT BE EJECTED 
Sound quality is bad only when playing tape Proceed to "Sound Quality is Bad Only when Playing Tape" SOUND QUALITY IS BAD ONLY WHEN PLAYING TAPE 
Tape is tangled due to incorrect tape speed or auto-reverse malfunction Proceed to "Tape is Tangled due to Incorrect Tape Speed or Auto-reverse Malfunction" TAPE IS TANGLED DUE TO INCORRECT MALFUNCTION TAPE SPEED OR AUTO-REVERSE 
Turning on light switch does not activate nighttime illumination of radio receiver Illumination circuit ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT

Volume cannot be adjusted by using the steering pad switch (sound is heard, volume can be adjusted by the radio receiver) 1. AVC-LAN Circuit AVC-LAN Circuit

4. Replace gateway ECU -
With the headlight dimmer switch ON, the steering pad switch is not illuminated 1. Illumination Circuit ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT
