How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage: 

    11 to 14 V 

    If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

  3. CRANK ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS 
  4. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LARGE-SCALE MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (BEAN)* 
    1. Using the intelligent tester, check if the Multiplex Communication System (MPX) is functioning normally (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

      Result: 

      RESULT REFERENCE CHART

      Result Proceed to
      MPX DTC is not output A
      MPX DTC is output B

    B:  GO to MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Delete the DTC.
    3. Recheck for DTCs. Based on the DTC output above, try to force output of the same SFI system DTC (see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ) or engine immobiliser system DTC (see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ) by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTC.

      Result: 

      RESULT REFERENCE CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC output does not reoccur A
      SFI system DTC output reoccurs B
      Engine immobiliser system DTC output reoccurs C

    B:  GO to SFI SYSTEM

    C: Go to step  7

    A: Go to next step 

  6. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
    1. Refer to the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  .

      Result:

      Result Proceed to
      Fault is not listed in problem symptoms table A
      Fault is listed in problem symptoms table B

    B: Go to step  8

    A: Go to next step 

  7. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING 
    1. (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  )
    2. (see TERMINALS OF ECU  )
    3. (see INSPECTION  )
  8. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE 
  9. CONFIRMATION TEST
