Park / Neutral Position Switch: Installation

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the park/neutral position switch to the automatic transmission.
    2. Temporarily install the bolt.

    3. Install a new lock washer with the nut.

      Torque: 6.9 N*m (70 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf)

    4. Temporarily install the control shaft lever.

    5. Turn the control shaft lever counterclockwise until it stops, and turn it clockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.
    6. Remove the transmission control shaft lever.

    7. Align the neutral basic line with the switch groove, and tighten the adjusting bolt.

      Torque: 13 N*m (133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

    8. Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.

      HINT:

      Bend at least 2 washer tabs.

    9. Install the transmission control shaft lever RH with the nut.

      Torque: 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)

    10. Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.

  2. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION   ) 
  3. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the center exhaust pipe (see REMOVAL ).
  4. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the front exhaust pipe (see REMOVAL ).
  5. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR CENTER BRACE 
    1. Install the floor brace with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

  6. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Sensor 2) 
    1. Connect the sensor (see INSTALLATION ).
  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  8. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  ADJUSTMENT   ) 
  9. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  10. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION   ) 
  11. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
