Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the skid control ECU, perform the following operations:
  • Initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration (see INITIALIZATION  )
  • Yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  )
  1. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING)  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (BRAKE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Select the ABS/VSC/TRAC "Warning Lamp" and "VSC Warning Lamp" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the brake control (electronically controlled brake system/ VSC) warning light by the Intelligent tester or Techstream.
      1. Intelligent tester

        ABS/VSC: 

        ABS/VSC REFERENCE

        Electronically Controlled Brake System WARN LAMP Turns brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction) ON / OFF Observe combination meter
        VSC WARN LAMP Turns master warning light and multi-information display ON / OFF Observe combination meter
      2. Techstream

        ABS/VSC/TRAC: 

        ABS/VSC/TRAC REFERENCE

        Electronically Controlled Brake System Warning Lamp Turns brake control warning light/ yellow (minor malfunction) ON / OFF Observe combination meter
        VSC Warning Lamp Turns master warning light and multi-information display ON/OFF Observe combination meter
    4. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the brake (electronically controlled brake system/VSC) warning lights / yellow (minor malfunction) are indicated on the combination meter when using the Intelligent tester or Techstream.

      OK: The brake (electronically controlled brake system/ VSC) warning light / yellow (minor malfunction) turn on or off in accordance with the Intelligent tester or Techstream. 

      HINT:

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

    B: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL  )

    A: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT NO. 1 METER ECU 
    1. Perform the meter and gauge system active test (see DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST ).

      HINT:

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the "PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE", refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

    NG: REPLACE NO. 1 METER ECU  (See DISASSEMBLY )

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
