Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the skid control ECU, perform the following operations:
  • Initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration (see INITIALIZATION  ).
  • Yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration (see CALIBRATION  ).
  1. CHECK DTC FOR ALL SYSTEM 
    1. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).
    2. Check for the DTC (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC (CAN communication system) is output B
      DTC (LIN communication system) is output C

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING)  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

    C: GO TO LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING)  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the Intelligent tester or Techstream.
      1. Intelligent tester

        METER: 

        METER REFERENCE

        Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
        SLIP INDIC Turns slip indicator light ON / OFF Confirm that the vehicle is stopped and engine idling
      2. Techstream

        Combination meter: 

        COMBINATION METER REFERENCE

        Indicat Lamp Slip Turns slip indicator light ON/OFF Confirm that the vehicle is stopped and engine idling
    4. Check that the slip indicator light turns on or off when using the Intelligent tester or Techstream.

      OK: The slip indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the Intelligent tester or Techstream. 

      HINT:

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

    NG: GO TO METER AND GAUGE SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING)  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the Intelligent tester or Techstream.
      1. Intelligent tester

        ABS/VSC: 

        ABS/VSC REFERENCE

      2. Techstream

        ABS/VSC/TRAC: 

        ABS/VSC/TRAC REFERENCE

    4. Check that the slip indicator light turns on or off when using the Intelligent tester or Techstream.

      OK: The slip indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the Intelligent tester or Techstream. 

      HINT:

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (see PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

    NG: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL  ).

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (TRC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the Intelligent tester or Techstream.
      1. Intelligent tester

        Center console switch: 

        CENTER CONSOLE SWITCH REFERENCE

        Tester Display Measurement Item/ Range Normal Condition
        TRC OFF SW VSC OFF switch / ON or OFF ON VSC OFF switch ON
        OFF VSC OFF switch OFF
      2. Techstream

        Center console switch: 

        CENTER CONSOLE SWITCH REFERENCE

        Tester Display Measurement Item/ Range Normal Condition
        TRC OFF Switch VSC OFF switch / ON or OFF ON VSC OFF switch ON
        OFF VSC OFF switch OFF
    4. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the VSC OFF switch turns on or off on the Intelligent tester or Techstream.

      OK: The VSC OFF switch is operated, and the display changes as shown above. 

      HINT:

      The procedure above is performed to confirm the condition of the TR(A)C / VSC switch.

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL ).

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (TRAC/VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the Intelligent tester or Techstream.
      1. Intelligent tester

        ABS/VSC: 

        ABS/VSC REFERENCE

        TRAC/VSC OFF SW VSC OFF switch / ON or OFF ON VSC OFF switch ON
        OFF VSC OFF switch OFF
      2. Techstream

        ABS/VSC/TRAC:

        OFF VSC OFF switch OFF
    4. Check that the VSC OFF switch turns on or off on the Intelligent tester or Techstream.

      OK: VSC OFF switch is operated, and the display changes as shown above. 

    NG: REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL  ).

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).
