WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lexus SC 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- INSPECT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY
- Place the vehicle in the following conditions:
- The area around the headlight is not deformed.
- The vehicle is parked on a level surface.
- Tire inflation pressure is at the specified value.
- A driver is in the driver's seat and the vehicle is in a state ready for driving (fuel tank is full).
- The vehicle has been bounced several times.
- Check the headlight's aim.
HINT:
Perform the following procedures while referring to the illustration below.
- Prepare a piece of thick white paper.
- Stand the paper perpendicular to the ground at a location 3 m (9.8 ft) from the headlights.
- Ensure that the center line of the vehicle and the paper surface form a 90° angle as shown in the illustration below.
- Draw a horizontal line (H line) on the paper at the position where the high beam light from the headlights will contact the paper.
- Draw a vertical line (V line) on the paper at the position where the center of the vehicle is located.
- Draw 2 vertical lines (V RH and V LH lines) on the paper at the position where the light from the headlights will contact the paper.
- Mark the low beam center marks on the paper. Then draw a horizontal line (H RH and H LH lines) through the marks. This is where the low beam light from the headlights will contact the paper.
- Cover or disconnect the connector of the headlight on the opposite side to prevent light from the headlight not being inspected from affecting headlight aiming inspection.NOTE: Do not keep the headlight covered for more than 3 minutes. The headlight lens is made of synthetic resin, and may easily melt or be damaged due to heat.
- Start the engine.
- Turn on the headlights.
- Check that the light from the headlights properly strike the positions shown in the illustration. If not, adjust the lights vertically.
HINT:
Adjust each aim aspect of the RH and LH headlights as shown above.
- Adjust the low beam headlight vertically.
- Using adjusting bolt B, adjust the headlight aim to the specified range.

- Adjust the low beam headlight horizontally.
- Using adjusting bolt A, adjust the headlight aim to the specified range.
- Place the vehicle in the following conditions:
