DTC B2312: Power Window Switch Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      DTC output from power window master switch A
      DTC output from driver side motor B
      DTC output from front passenger side motor C
      DTC output from rear LH motor D
      DTC output from rear RH motor E

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MASTER SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON.
    3. Select the following menu items: Body / Master Switch / Data List.
    4. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      MASTER SWITCH

      D Door P/W Auto SW Driver side power window auto switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Driver door power window auto switch is operated
      OFF: Driver door power window auto switch is not operated

      OFF: Front passenger door power window auto switch is not operated

      OFF: Rear LH power window auto switch is not operated

      Window Lock Switch Status Window lock switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Window lock switch LOCK position
      OFF: Window lock switch UNLOCK position

      Tester display changes in accordance with power window master switch is operation.

    NG → See step   16 

    OK → END (DUE TO CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING SWITCH FOR 20 SECONDS OR MORE) 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (D-DOOR MOTOR) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON.
    3. Select the following menu items: Body / D-Door Motor / Data List.
    4. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      D-DOOR MOTOR

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      D Door P/W Auto SW Driver side power window auto switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Driver door power window auto switch is operated
      OFF: Driver door power window auto switch is not operated
      -
      D Door P/W Up SW Driver side power window up switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Driver door power window manual up switch is operated
      OFF: Driver door power window manual up switch is not operated
      -
      D Door P/W Down SW Driver side power window down switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Driver door power window manual down switch is operated
      OFF: Driver door power window manual down switch is not operated
      -

      OK

      Tester display changes in accordance with power window master switch is operation.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → END (DUE TO CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING SWITCH FOR 20 SECONDS OR MORE) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the Q13 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the M14 motor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q13-16 (D) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q13-20 (U) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. REPLACE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH 
    1. Replace the power window master switch . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9 .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. Check that the power window is operated normally by opening and closing the window . Refer to OPERATION CHECK .

      OK

      Power window master switch operates normally.

    NG → See step   20 

    OK → END (POWER MASTER SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE) 

  7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (POWER WINDOW SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON.
    3. Select the following menu items: Body / P-Door Motor / Data List.
    4. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      P-DOOR MOTOR:

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      P Door P/W Auto SW Front passenger side power window AUTO UP / DOWN switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Front passenger side power window switch is operated (AUTO operation)
      OFF: Front passenger side power window switch is not operated
      -
      P Door P/W Up SW Front passenger side power window MANUAL UP switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Front passenger side power window switch is operated (MANUAL UP operation)
      OFF: Front passenger side power window switch is not operated
      -
      P Door P/W Down SW Front passenger side power window MANUAL DOWN switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Front passenger side power window switch is operated (MANUAL DOWN operation)
      OFF: Front passenger side power window switch is not operated
      -

      OK

      Tester display changes in accordance with front passenger side power window switch is operation.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → END (DUE TO CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING SWITCH FOR 20 SECONDS OR MORE) 

  8. INSPECT POWER WINDOW SWITCH (for Front Passenger Side) 
    1. Remove the power window switch . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9 .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (U) - 5 (E) Manual UP operation Below 1 Ω
      10 (D) - 5 (E) Manual DOWN operation Below 1 Ω
      4 (A) - 5 (E) AUTO UP / DOWN operation Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   17 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER WINDOW SWITCH (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the Q6 motor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q6-2 (U) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q6-4 (A) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q6-10 (D) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   21 

  10. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (RL-DOOR MOTOR) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON.
    3. Select the following menu items: Body / RL-Door Motor / Data List.
    4. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RL-DOOR MOTOR

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      RL Door P/W Auto SW Rear LH power window AUTO UP / DOWN switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Rear LH power window switch is operated (AUTO operation)
      OFF: Rear LH power window switch is not operated

      RL Door P/W Up SW Rear LH power window MANUAL UP switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Rear LH power window switch is operated (MANUAL UP operation)
      OFF: Rear LH power window switch is not operated
      -
      RL Door P/W Down SW Rear LH power window MANUAL DOWN switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Rear LH power window switch is operated (MANUAL DOWN operation)
      OFF: Rear LH power window switch is not operated
      -

      OK

      Tester display changes in accordance with rear LH power window switch is operation.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK → END (DUE TO CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING SWITCH FOR 20 SECONDS OR MORE) 

  11. INSPECT POWER WINDOW SWITCH (for Rear LH Side) 
    1. Remove the power window switch . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7 .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (U) - 5 (E) Manual UP operation Below 1 Ω
      10 (D) - 5 (E) Manual DOWN operation Below 1 Ω
      4 (A) - 5 (E) AUTO UP / DOWN operation Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   18 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER WINDOW SWITCH (REAR LH SIDE) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the Q8 motor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S5-2 (U) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S5-4 (A) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S5-10 (D) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   22 

  13. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (POWER WINDOW SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON.
    3. Select the following menu items: Body / RR-Door Motor / Data List.
    4. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      RR-DOOR MOTOR

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      RR Door P/W Auto SW Rear RH power window AUTO UP / DOWN switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Rear RH power window switch is operated (AUTO operation)
      OFF: Rear RH power window switch is not operated

      RR Door P/W Up SW Rear RH power window MANUAL UP switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Rear RH power window switch is operated (MANUAL UP operation)
      OFF: Rear RH power window switch is not operated

      RR Door P/W Down SW Rear RH power window MANUAL DOWN switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Rear RH power window switch is operated (MANUAL DOWN operation)
      OFF: Rear RH power window switch is not operated
      -

      OK

      Tester display changes in accordance with rear RH power window switch is operation.

    NG → See step   14 

    OK → END (DUE TO CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING SWITCH FOR 20 SECONDS OR MORE) 

  14. INSPECT POWER WINDOW SWITCH (for Rear RH Side) 
    1. Remove the power window switch . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7 .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (U) - 5 (E) Manual UP operation Below 1 Ω
      10 (D) - 5 (E) Manual DOWN operation Below 1 Ω
      4 (A) - 5 (E) AUTO UP / DOWN operation Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   19 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER WINDOW SWITCH (REAR RH SIDE) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the O4 motor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S1-2 (U) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S1-4 (A) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S1-10 (D) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   23 

  16. REPLACE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 9 
  17. REPLACE POWER WINDOW SWITCH (for Front Passenger Side). Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 9 
  18. REPLACE POWER WINDOW SWITCH (for Rear LH Side). Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 7 
  19. REPLACE POWER WINDOW SWITCH (for Rear RH Side). Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 7 
  20. REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for Driver Side). Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 20 
  21. REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for Front Passenger Side). Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 20 
  22. REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for Rear LH side). Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 21 
  23. REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for Rear RH side). Refer to  REMOVAL - Step 21
