Air Intake Control Circuit: Procedure
- CHECK VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE)
- Inspect the VSV for air intake control valve. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 3 .
NG → REPLACE VSV (FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE)
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT TERMINAL VOLTAGE (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE CONNECTOR)
- Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 2 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V - Reconnect the VSV connector.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 2 FUSE - VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE)
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE - ECM)
- Disconnect the VSV for air intake control valve connector.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A60-1 (VSV for AICV) - E3-8 (AICV) Always Below 1 Ω Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A60-1 (VSV for AICV) or E3-8 (AICV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Reconnect the VSV connector.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE - ECM)
OK: Go to next step
- REPLACE ECM. Refer to REMOVAL
- INSPECT AIR INTAKE CONTROL VALVE
- Inspect the intake air control valve.
NG → REPLACE AIR CLEANER CASE
OK → See step 4
