Lighting System: Initialization: Initialization

  1. HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SIGNAL INITIALIZATION 
    NOTE:
    • Initialize the headlight beam level control ECU when vehicle height changes due to replacement of the suspension, headlight beam level control ECU, or removal, installation, or replacement of the height control sensor.
    • Adjust the headlight aim after initializing the headlight beam level control ECU. Refer to ADJUSTMENT .
    1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
      1. Leave approximately 10 liters of fuel in the tank.
      2. Unload the vehicle.
      3. Check that there are no passengers in the vehicle.
      4. Turn off the headlights.

        NEXT: Go to next step 

    2. CHECK WARNING INDICATOR 
      1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and check the warning indicator (bulb check function).

        OK

        Warning indicator comes on for approximately 3 seconds.

        HINT: 

        • If the headlight beam level control ECU is replaced with a new one or there is problem with initialized data memorized in the headlight beam level control ECU, the warning indicator repeats the following pattern: 2 Hz for one second, followed by a 1 second pause.
        • If the warning indicator does not come on or comes on for more than 3 seconds, inspect and repair according to "PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE". Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .

        NEXT: Go to next step 

    3. INITIALIZATION 
      1. Connect terminals 4 (CG) and 8 (LVL) of the DLC3 using the SST.

        • SST: 09843-18040 
      2. Flash the headlight 3 times within 20 seconds by turning the headlight dimmer switch.
        NOTE:

        Flash the headlight at approximately 1 second intervals.

        OK

        Condition Proceed to
        Warning indicator blinks 3 times at 0.5 second intervals → goes off A
        Warning indicator does not blink or continues blinking B

        HINT: 

        If initialization cannot finished normally, inspect the initialization circuit. Refer to LVL Terminal Circuit .

        B → INITIALIZED TERMINAL CIRCUIT IS FAULTY 

        A → END (NORMAL COMPLETE)
