How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

HINT:

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE 

    Standard voltage: 

    11 to 14 V 

    If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

  3. CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* 
    1. Use the Techstream to check if the CAN Communication System is functioning normally.

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE CHART

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTC is not output A
      CAN DTC is output B

    B: Go to CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK INDICATOR LIGHT 
  5. CHECK FOR DTC* 
    1. Check for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
    2. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
    3. Recheck for DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE CHART

      Result Proceed to
      DTC does not reoccur A
      DTC reoccurs B

    B:  Go to step  8

    A: Go to next step 

  6. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    Result

    Fault is not listed in problem symptoms table A
    Fault is listed in problem symptoms table B

  7. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING* 
    1. Terminals of ECM (see TERMINALS OF ECM ).
    2. Data List/Active Test (see FAIL-SAFE CHART ).
  8. REPAIR OR REPLACE 
  9. CONFIRMATION TEST
