Reverse Signal Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK BACK-UP LIGHT 
    1. Move the shift lever to the R position.
    2. Check the back-up light.

      OK

      The back-up light is ON.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK VEHICLE SIGNAL (DISPLAY CHECK MODE) 
    1. Enter the "Display Check" mode (Vehicle Signal Check Mode).

    2. Check that the display changes between ON and OFF according to the shift lever operation (P and R).
      OK

      Shift Lever Position Display
      R ON
      P OFF

      HINT: 

      This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to lag behind the actual change in the switch.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   7 

  3. CHECK LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S63-1 (BCK1) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG), shift lever in R 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch on (IG), shift lever in P Below 1 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Rear Junction Block ECU)

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the L59 display connector.
    2. Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L59-16 (REV) - S63-1 (BCK1) Always Below 1 Ω
      L59-16 (REV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Temporarily replace the ECU with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the display and navigation module display displays the rear view of the vehicle when the shift lever position is changed to R.
      RESULT

  6. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  7. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
  8. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  9. REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY. Refer to  REMOVAL
