Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus LS 600hL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Before performing the inspection, check that there are no problems related to the "CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM" and "LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM".
  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION 
    1. When the master switch's door control switch is operated, check that the locked doors unlock (see OPERATION CHECK  )

      OK: Locked doors unlock. 

    NG: GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (OUTSIDE HANDLE) 
    1. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List (see DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  )
      1. Intelligent tester

        P-DOOR 

        DIAGNOSTIC NOTE NORMAL CONDITION CHART

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        TRIGGER SW Front passenger side door outside handle lock switch / ON or OFF ON Front passenger side door outside handle lock switch is pushed
        OFF Front passenger side door outside handle lock switch is not pushed
        -
      2. Techstream

        Passenger Door 

        DIAGNOSTIC NOTE NORMAL CONDITION CHART

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        Outside Handle Trigger SW Front passenger side door outside handle lock switch / ON or OFF ON Front passenger side door outside handle lock switch is pushed
        OFF Front passenger side door outside handle lock switch is not pushed
        -

        OK: On tester screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart. 

    NG:  Go to step  4

    OK: Go to next Step 

  3. CHECK FRONT DOOR ECU RH (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the front door ECU RH with a new one or normally functioning one (see FRONT DOOR ).
    2. Check that the entry function operates normally (see OPERATION CHECK  ).

      OK: Operates normally 

    NG: REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (FRONT DOOR ECU RH IS DEFECTIVE) 

  4. INSPECT FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE RH 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      a2-3 (TRG+) - a2-1 (TRG-) ON Below 1 Ω
      a2-3 (TRG+) - a2-1 (TRG-) OFF 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE RH  (see FRONT DOOR )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT DOOR ECU RH - FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE RH)

    1. Disconnect the N1 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the a2 handle connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N1-20 (TRG+) - a2-3 (TRG+) Always Below 1 Ω
      a2-3 (TRG+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR - FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE RH)

    1. Disconnect the a2 handle connector
    2. Disconnect the a1 oscillator connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      a1-9 (TRG-) - a2-1 (TRG-) Always Below 1 Ω
      a2-1 (TRG-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  7. CHECK DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the door electrical key oscillator with a new one or normally functioning one (see FRONT DOOR ).
    2. Check that the entry function operates normally (see OPERATION CHECK  )

      OK: Operates normally 

    NG: Go to step 8 

    OK: END (DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR IS DEFECTIVE) 

  8. CHECK FRONT DOOR ECU RH (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the front door ECU RH with a new one or normally functioning one (see FRONT DOOR ).
    2. Check that the entry function operates normally (see OPERATION CHECK  ).

      OK: Operates normally 

    NG: REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (FRONT DOOR ECU RH IS DEFECTIVE)
