Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus LS 600hL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Before performing the inspection, check that there are no problems related to the "CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM" and "LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM".
  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION 
    1. When the master switch's door control switch is operated, check that the locked doors unlock (see OPERATION CHECK  )

      OK: Locked doors unlock. 

    NG: GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (OUTSIDE HANDLE) 
    1. Using the intelligent tester or Techstream, read the Data List (see DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  ).
      1. Intelligent tester

        RL-DOOR 

        DIAGNOSTIC NOTE NORMAL CONDITION CHART

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        TRIGGER SW Rear LH side door outside handle lock switch / ON or OFF ON Rear side door outside handle lock switch LH is pushed
        OFF Rear side door outside handle lock switch LH is not pushed
        -
      2. Techstream

        Rear Left Door 

        DIAGNOSTIC NOTE NORMAL CONDITION CHART

        Tester Display Measurement Item/Display Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        Outside Handle Trigger SW Rear LH side door outside handle lock switch / ON or OFF ON Rear side door outside handle lock switch LH is pushed
        OFF Rear side door outside handle lock switch LH is not pushed
        -

        OK: On tester screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart. 

    NG:  Go to step  4

    OK: Go to next Step 

  3. CHECK REAR DOOR ECU LH (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the rear door ECU LH with a new one or normally functioning one (see REAR DOOR ).
    2. Check that the entry function operates normally (see OPERATION CHECK  )

      OK: Operates normally 

    NG: REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (REAR DOOR ECU LH IS DEFECTIVE) 

  4. CHECK REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE LH 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      d1-1 (TRG-) - d1-3 (TRG+) ON Below 1 Ω
      d1-1 (TRG-) - d1-3 (TRG+) OFF 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE LH  (See REAR DOOR )

    OK: Go to next Step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR DOOR ECU LH - REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE LH)

    1. Disconnect the O14 ECU connector
    2. Disconnect the d1 handle connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O14-20 (TRG+) - d1-3 (TRG+) Always Below 1 Ω
      d1-3 (TRG+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR - REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE LH)

    1. Disconnect the d2 oscillator connector
    2. Disconnect the d1 handle connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      d2-9 (TRG-) - d1-1 (TRG-) Always Below 1 Ω
      d1-1 (TRG-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  7. CHECK DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the door electrical key oscillator with a new one or normally functioning one (see REAR DOOR )
    2. Check that the entry function operates normally (see OPERATION CHECK  ).

      OK: Operates normally 

    NG: Go to step 8 

    OK: Go to next Step 

  8. CHECK REAR DOOR ECU LH (OPERATION) 
    1. Replace the rear door ECU LH with a new one or normally functioning one (see REAR DOOR ).
    2. Check that the entry function operates normally (see OPERATION CHECK  ).

      OK: Operates normally 

    NG: REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: END (REAR DOOR ECU LH IS DEFECTIVE)
