Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus LS 600hL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR DTCS (DTC P0A1F-123 IS OUTPUT) 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG)
    3. Select the following menu items.
      1. Intelligent tester-Select DIAGNOSIS/OBD/MOBD / HV ECU / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
      2. Techstream - Select Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      P0A1F-123 is not output A
      DTC P0A1F-123 is also output. B

    B: Go to DTC CHART (P0A1F-123)  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  )

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT 
    1. Ensure the safety of the areas in front and at the back of the vehicle
    2. Connect the intelligent tester or Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (READY)
    4. Select the following menu items:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select. DIAGNOSIS / OBD/MOBD / HV ECU / DATA LIST / V1 to 20 BATT BLOCK.
      2. Techstream - Select. Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Battery Block Vol - V01 to V20
    5. Fully warm up the engine and turn the air conditioning off
    6. Firmly depress the brake pedal with your left foot
    7. Move the shift lever to the D position
    8. Record each battery block voltage in the data list ("Battery Block Vol - V01 to V20") while fully depressing the accelerator pedal
    9. Compare the battery block voltages ("Battery Block Vol - V01 to V20") between the even and odd number groups in each combination shown in the table below

    10. Check if the difference in voltage of each combination is 0 3 V or more.

      Result

      Difference in voltage of each combination is less than 0.3 V. A
      Difference in voltage of each combination is 0.3 V or more. B

      HINT:

      • Difference in voltage of each combination may be 0 3 V or more due to a battery smart unit internal error
      • Refer to the wiring diagram for DTC P0A80-123 (See DTC P0A80-123 REPLACE HYBRID BATTERY PACK  ).

    B: REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT  (See REMOVAL  )

    A: REPLACE HV BATTERY  (See HV BATTERY  )
