DTC C1249/49: Open in Stop Light Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH 
    1. Check that the stop light turns on when the brake pedal is depressed and turns off when the brake pedal is released.

      OK

      Condition Specified Condition
      Brake pedal depressed Stop light turns on
      Brake pedal released Stop light turns off

    NG → See step   3 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)

    1. Disconnect the S7 and D4 ECU connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S7-10 (STP) - D4-3 (STPA) Below 1 Ω
      S7-10 (STP) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    NG → REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU 

  3. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH

    1. Disconnect the switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Pin not pushed Below 1 Ω
      1 - 2 Pin pushed 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STOP LIGHT SWITCH - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BATTERY)

    1. Disconnect the D2 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S10 switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      D2-13 (STP1) - S10-1 Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S10-2 - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU - DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the S7 and D4 ECU connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S7-10 (STP) - D4-3 (STPA) Below 1 Ω
      S7-10 (STP) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    NG → REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU
