Reverse Shift-linked Function of Power Mirrors does not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Use the Techstream to check if multiplex communication system is functioning normally . Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING .

      OK

      Multiplex communication DTC is not output.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK REVERSE SHIFT-LINKED FUNCTION 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    2. Set the mirror select switch to L or R.
    3. Check that the mirror surface turns downward when the shift lever is moved to R.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Reverse shift-linked function on both mirrors is not normal (for AT) A
      Reverse shift-linked function on both mirrors is not normal (for MT) B
      Reverse shift-linked function on either mirror is not normal C

    C → See step   9 

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally . Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING .

      OK

      CAN communication DTC is not output.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FOR DTC (P705) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.
    5. Check if DTC P0705 is output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0705 is not output A
      DTC P0705 is output (for A760E) B
      DTC P0705 is output (for A760H) C
      DTC P0705 is output (for A960E) D

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC / Data List.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

    A → REPLACE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU 

  6. CHECK BACK LIGHT FUNCTION 
    1. Move the shift lever to the R position and check if the back up lights come on.

      OK

      The back up lights come on.

    NG → See step   17 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Body No. 3 / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      BODY NO. 3

      Bkup Light SW Back up light switch / ON or OFF ON: Back up light switch on

    OK → REPLACE BODY ECU (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH) 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the E55 and LJ connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E55-1 - LJ-23 (BKUP) Always Below 1Ω
      E55-1 - Body ground Always Below 1Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE BODY ECU (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK) 

  9. CHECK MEMORY AND REACTIVATION FUNCTION 
    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Using the outer mirror switch assembly, turn the mirror surface to the fully left position.
    3. Press the M1 switch while the SET switch is being pressed.
    4. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the mirror surface position is memorized.
    5. Using the outer mirror switch assembly, turn the mirror surface to the fully right position.
    6. Press the M1 switch.
    7. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the outer mirror automatically moves to the recorded fully left position.

      OK

      Memory and reactivation function is normal.

    NG → See step   18 

    OK → See step   19 

  10. GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  11. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  12. GO TO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM (for A760E). Refer to  DTC P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) 
  13. GO TO AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SYSTEM (for A760H). Refer to  DTC P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) 
  14. GO TO AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE SYSTEM (for A960E). Refer to  DTC P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) 
  15. REPLACE ECM (for 2GR-FE). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  16. REPLACE ECM (for 4GR-FE). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  17. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  18. GO TO OTHER FLOW CHART (Power Mirrors do not Return to Memorized Position). Refer to  Power Mirrors do not Return to Memorized Position  
  19. REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY - Step 13
