Installation (To 12/2010): Installation

  1. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER 
    1. Install the steering column hole cover to the main shaft LWR dust cover.

    2. Install the steering column hole cover sub-assembly with the nut and 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering intermediate shaft assembly.

    2. Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the power steering gear assembly.

    3. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

    4. Install the clamp to the steering column hole shield with the bolt.

  3. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque: 21 N*m (210 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connectors.
    3. Install the wire harness clamps to the steering column assembly.
  4. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Refer to INSTALLATION

  5. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE 
  6. CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly.

    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35.0 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  7. INSTALL AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY NO. 1 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the air duct sub-assembly No. 1.

  8. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the turn signal switch assembly w/ spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly with the clamp.

    2. Install the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly w/ spiral cable sub-assembly.
  9. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the claw to install the steering column cover.

  10. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LWR 
    1. Install the steering column cover LWR with the 2 screws.

  11. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  12. CHECK KEY INTERLOCK OPERATION 

    HINT: 

    If there is any abnormality, replace the key interlock solenoid.

  13. CENTER SPIRAL CABLE 
  14. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and the steering main shaft assembly.
    2. Install the steering wheel assembly with the set nut.

      Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the connector.
  15. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  16. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  17. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 3  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  18. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR BAG ASSEMBLY LOWER NO. 1  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  19. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 25
  20. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
  21. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 
  22. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  23. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
  24. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  25. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
