Adjustment (To 12/2010): Adjustment

  1. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION 
    1. When shifting from P to R with the ignition switch ON and the brake pedal depressed, make sure that the shift lever moves smoothly and correctly into position.
    2. Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward when shifting from N to D and moves rearward when shifting to R.

      If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly and check the transmission floor shift assembly installation condition.

  2. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION 
    1. Apply the parking brake and move the shift lever to N.
    2. Remove the front console box. Refer to REMOVAL .
    3. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission floor shift assembly.

    4. Slide the slider of the transmission control cable in the direction indicated by the arrow and pull the lock piece outward.

    5. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission floor shift assembly.

      *1 Lock Piece
      NOTE:
      • Securely engage the claws.
      • Check that the lock piece is pulled up.
    6. Push the lock piece into the adjuster case.

      *1 Lock Piece
      *2 Adjuster Case
      NOTE:
      • Check that the park/neutral position switch and the shift lever are in neutral.
      • Securely push in the lock piece until the slider lock is engaged.
    7. Install the front console box See step  3.
    8. Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward when moving the lever from N to D and moves rearward when moving it to R.

      If it becomes hard to move the shift lever, readjust the shift lever position.
